Madeline Huerkamp, LPC
Connection is the most integral part of my approach to counseling. My goal is to aid clients in developing a well-balanced lifestyle so that they can feel self-confident, fulfilled, and intimately connected to others. I hope for my clients to live in a wholehearted way that honors what they truly value, as opposed to feeling stuck in patterns that are no longer serving you.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) practicing out of Atlanta, GA. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University in 2017, followed by a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Auburn University in 2019. I have been extensively trained in EMDR, TF-CBT, CBT, and EFT.
My early clinical experience took place in intensive treatment facilities, with a focus on complex trauma and its co-occurring disorders. During these years of experience, I worked at East Alabama Medical Center's Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, Lakeview Behavioral Health Psychiatric Hospital, and The Berman Center’s Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Treatment.
I have come to learn that our wounds can inform how we see the world, and yet, do not have to define who we are. It is my passion to aid clients in understanding their past while feeling empowered to move forward. Previous clients have told me that they enjoy my warm yet direct approach, sense of humor, and authenticity. I value creating a safe space for my clients to be the fullest expression of themselves. I am honest, compassionate, and willing to go to whatever depths you may feel ready for.
When I’m out of the office, I am typically spending time with family and friends, watching the same rotation of comfort movies, attending weekly trivia, and getting outside with my dog. I love any and all kinds of music, college football, traveling to new places, and pretty much anything that airs on Bravo.
